Switching it up

As you all know, I mean if you've read my blog up to this point, is that I trained for and ran a half marathon. It required consistency and a lot of hard work and very long training runs.
It was so rewarding and empowering to actually complete a half and see the reward of lots of hard work.
Truth be told, I didn't love it though. I've heard that people finish them then want to do another one or even a full marathon.
But I don't.
I mean maybe in a year or so I'll consider another half. But not now.

That doesn't mean I don't love running or racing, I just don't love that distance.

So, what do I want to do?
I want to get faster
I want to get stronger
I want a sub-25 min 5k
I want a sub-50 min 10k

And I think I can do it!

So I found a new training plan. It has plenty of track workouts, tempo runs, and not quite as long longer runs. I've started doing strength workouts 2-3x's a week and plan on doing more.

I don't have a specific race in mind yet but there are plenty to choose from throughout spring and summer so I'll figure it out soon.

In other news I've started sewing my own running skirts for this upcoming spring/summer season. I plan to wear them for training and racing. I just can't pass up a nice sugar skull pattern. Even one of my tattoo's is a sugar skull!!!
